Shawn Gilhula

Since joining the Canadian class action team in 2001, Shawn Gilhula has built a reputation as a problem solver committed to providing streamlined and efficient solutions for his clients. He has played an integral role in the administration of many of Canada’s largest and historic class action settlements and voluntary government redress programs. While successfully progressing through various senior roles in the Canadian organization, Mr. Gilhula has developed particular expertise in the planning, organizing, controlling and system building functions that are critical to every settlement administration. His experience working on groundbreaking cases includes the Walkerton Compensation Plan, KPMG Overtime Redress Program, City of Stratford Floods Litigation Settlement, Roth and Fifield Settlement for the Government of Alberta, and the Nutrition North Program and Claims Program for Foreign Affairs and International Trade, both with the Government of Canada.

Prior to his current role, Mr. Gilhula gained in-depth insight into legal administration best practices while working as a Senior Evaluator, Senior Project Manager, and later as a Director of Audit and Quality Control. Notably, Mr. Gilhula’s track record includes over 15 years of bi annual independent audits on several key projects in which the results have consistently meet or exceeded the client and court expectations.

Mr. Gilhula began his career with Crawford Canada in 1989, and obtained his all lines adjusting license in 1993. With experience as an all lines adjuster, he also spent time as a member of Crawford’s Catastrophe Services team in the Caribbean. During that time, he gained invaluable skills for Investigating, negotiating and settling losses, attending arbitrations, detailed reporting, accuracy, and conflict resolution that he continues to utilize in his current role.
